Hokusai's "The Great Wave of Kanagawa"

On my wall, this famous picture
of broken waves on Edo Bay
is sometimes all the world seems--

the raging beat of Yang upon
the bamboo frames of rickety skiffs.
We brace against each coming crash

and keep some basic faith in Yin
which shines back from the face of Yang--
the empty sky of Hokusai.
